Where should a CFO intervene first to control overspending? I loaded 5 years of budget data into a MySQL star schema, checked the totals, broke the variance down by account, department and year, and built a Tableau dashboard.

Which bank monitoring rules create the most work for investigators, and which ones actually find suspicious activity? I profiled and cleaned 5 tables in MySQL (duplicates, inconsistent labels, placeholder values), built extracts without double counting, and charted the results in Python.

Key findingThe rule behind 59% of all alerts had the lowest SAR rate (11.6%), while a rule with under 5% of alerts reached 62.3%.
